Amílcar Peter Sanatan is an interdisciplinary Caribbean artist, educator, and activist. He is from Trinidad and Tobago and currently works in Helsinki, Finland. His multilingual poetry, essays, short fiction, interviews, and book reviews have appeared in regional and international literary magazines and anthologies.

Sanatan also co-edited two special issues on gender and cultural studies in academic journals. For over a decade, he has co-created and led spoken word open mics, literary publics, and communities for social change. 

He is an alumnus of the Cropper Foundation and Obsidian Foundation writers’ residencies. He was a Promundo Writing Fellow.

This chapbook is an excerpt from a larger poetry collection in progress, which he worked on during his 2024 Bocas Breakthrough Fellowship, mentored by author Rajiv Mohabir.
